once again another question to see if this is a good deal. same jy as the 1.8 with 48k miles , this is from a 88 tracer and has 70k been sitting 10+ years , he said two-fiddy but i was thinkin more along the lines of 2 even. just looking for something i can slap in real quick without having to buy any new parts to get me threw winter.

The last pricing I got from a cheaper junkyard in Columbus about two years ago was $100 for an older B6 (Tracer or 323) or $150 if they pulled it. Cars were probably sitting for less than a year.
Your $250/sitting for a decade B6 does not sound like a great deal to me. Is there a 30 day warranty, by any chance?

The late '80s B6 SOHCs had slightly different heads and air tube routing than the 1990 to '94 B6 SOHCs. Not all parts are interchangable. Intake and exhaust manifolds aren't, and I don't think the heads and headbolts are.
I used a '94 for my ATX swap. There is another in my garage. Because of that, I'll probably be sticking with the nineties B6 motors.
Unless I go B8 for my next one.

well , i got me a B8 ! and some other goodies.
well i went to the jy and got a b8 , its the one with 48k miles , i looked it all over and turned it over manualy just a bit with a big bar to make sure it wasnt locked up, the engine is very nice and clean and i got it for 200 , i also got the correct ecu , 4 festiva trim rings and a guage cluster with tach. after taxes and stuff it came to 325.01 lol , howd i do ? pics tommorro as its pitch black out.05 focus zx3 5spd 180k 2.5 inch mbrp exhaust , steeda sri and ford racing dynamic suspension
