Also, it would be helpful to know the year model of the donor car if the poster knows it or can give a ballpark estimate. Using the Escort as an example: I'm seeing that alot of Escort stuff will interchange but there are 3 generations of the Escort. 1st gen. = 1981-1990, 2nd gen. = 1991 - 1996, and 3rd gen. = 1997-2003. As you can see there's a generation split right in the middle of the the production cycle of our cars so I'm assuming some of the parts from the Escort could go either way. Also, it makes it a little easier to spot the donor car in a junkyard if you have a better idea of what year you're looking for. Again, using the Escort as an example: If you know you need a certain part from a 1st gen then you look for a car with glass headlights (until mid year 87) and quarter window design. If you need a 2nd gen part then you look for the smoother nose, plastic headlight fronts and the flush mount quarter windows with a more rounded tail section.

Small details like that can make scavenging for parts alot easier and faster when scannning through donor cars at the salvage yard.

My Youth Pastor had a saying for the leaders of his youth team, "If you think of the idea, then you're the one that gets to do it"... so, seeing as I brough the subject back up again I have already started going through the posts to see what I can pull out and make into a form for a sticky that one of the mods could put up.

To make it easier, if you guys who already have an idea of what comes from what can you pm me with the details? I thought it would be easier if went something like has already been discussed make/model/year/item description/ease of mod (bolton/small mod req/heavy mod req).

It looks like this may take some time - there is quite a bit there! lol

I ran across a good one today. My car only came with one windshield wiper and it's been bugging the crap of me when I drive in the rain. I have a small salvage yard so I went for a walk today and started looking at the imports I have to see if any of the wiper arms looked like the one on the Festiva. I hit pay dirt

Ive never seen them on a festiva but you are correct about there being a threaded spot for them in the festy roof. It will only work on cars with the soft headliner. That would be older US festies or Canadian festys. The auto belts interfere with installing in the newer ( 90-93 ) US models.

The power protege mirrors are direct plug in(s) . They were on the sets I installed anyway. No wiring change. You do have to enlongate some holes.

The handles do work with the 91-93 you just have cut the holes in the head liner - You can see where the roof support used to bolt in this picture.

The protege mirrors are also a direct fit to replace the glass or motor plate out of the swoopie mirrors

The booster will swap over as well - you'll want to use the vaccum hose from the aspire - I warn you though the bolts are a pain on the festy due to the steering colum
86-89 Mazda B2000 Series bumper lights are a direct swap with our turn signals - that will give you a new housing and a clear lens - plug and play

AHH my bad maybe I read that wrong I thought yoou were talking about the rears - which were an option on the 121's - yes the fronts dont bolt up if you have automatic belts

What is it with Americans and the automatic seat belt? Is it really all that safe? I've seen them in movies where the belt slides off someone when the door opens... is that how they all work? I can't imagine them being all that safe... ours are rigid to the b-pillar. To me that feels so much more safe (but maybe that's because it's what I was brought up on)

Its safer than someone driving without having their belts on. I believe that was the thinking behind it. It kind of forces you to buckle up.

I always hung myself on the automatic belts getting in and out myself. I like the manual early style belts, and then move them to the lower bolt hole for comfort.

the problem with the auto belts is that people either get frustrated because they dont wait for the belt to retract and hang themselves so the disconnect them - the other senerio they dont fasten the lap belt - creating a more dangerous senerio when they wreak - the belts are just as safe as standards as long as they are used correctly - you get a discount on your insurance for having passive restraint on the car even though its partial passive and partial active restraint.

The relays from 91 - 95 Escorts will work with removal of tab on the relay. Its obvious when you see it.
