The top picture shows the mounting holes for the handles. The bottom picture shows the trim piece for the auto belts. The trim pieces covers the holes.

do you supose a spacer and longer bolt could be utilized to make those work - or do the tracks get in the way - its too dark and cold to go look at mine right now

I cant remember that well now. I wanted to put some on my cars and didnt. I must have ran into some problem. Might have been the track.

The trunk lights from ford escort wagons will fit in the special "notch" on the right hand rear speaker deck. Early Festiva models (88/89's I think) even have the wiring for them. (I wonder if this was ever available as a dealer option? Fresh would know.)
My '88 LX has that light, activated by the trunk only.
