I have a confession
68 Squareback, im thinking some old beetle steelies and some whitewalls with a solid drop and a roofrack to look kinda like this:

I just went to my happy place - That car is absolutely stunning.
I used to help my buddy work on his rabbit all the time so I get my love of VW's from there - I lurk on the VW Vortex as well. But until I finish the festy I dont want to get a VW.
Here's a rendering of the panel I would like to build.

That Ghia is known in VW circles as the 'razor-back', because of its very sharp creases in the bodywork.

I've posted this pic before I think....it's my '69 Type III Fastback,, auto, 35,000 original miles. I just saw it today for the first time in almost 3 years (since I was in CA). I'll be needing new tires, battery, etc.. but I'll get it back on the road this summer!!

First, sorry about the Gimormica-sized pic. Admin, if you'd like to downsize it a bit, I'd appreciate it.

My first car was a '72 Squareback.. They can be great cars, but watch for rust. Some body parts are hard to come by, as are some trim and glass items, but most everything is available, but since there is not much of a market for these, and they are getting rarer every day, prices can be...pricey.
Auto's are a bit sluggish of the line in stock form (67 h.p. I think), but the auto trans can handle WAY more h.p. than stock, so upgrades are fine. Check out Type III detectives, in England, they have a great selection of new and used T3 parts. Also go online to the Samba.com, for great info.

I owned and drove them from 1968 to 2001. No type 1and2s over 1968. And a 74 type 181 and 71 Giha. Plus a Dune Runner street buggy,Ocelot street buggy,BradleyGT,DeserterGT street buggy and a FibeFab Aztec. Got old and got real tired of freezing in the winter. I sold the type 181 in 2001 and the barns full of parts and that was it. But they were great cars and great days. Where did they go?

yeah wheels are original 914 pieces.

after some body cleanup and a little interior fixups im gonna shoot for some von dutch style pin striping.

so much work and research to do

also the seats are procar lowbacks. not sure on model but they are relatively comfy and sit waaaaay low to the floor lol
