  • 25-28 mpg.

Ok I have been driving my 91 auto for 3 or 4 months and can only get 25-28 mpg out of it. I do run it hard 70-75 mph. is this norm. Or should I be getting better mpg.

Almost normal for those speeds. Mine averages 29-30 going 65.. can't go any faster due to tire problems. When the last time you had a tune-up?

I just put the motor in, (Thanks Dean) I used some parts off the old one, would not hurt to give a full tune up. But I do drive it like I stole it; it’s in park or peddles on the floor! I love the car just wish it had 1 more gear. I looked over the 5speed swap thread, Looks like a lot of work for a 500 dollar

Well what do you expect? You're dumping in the fuel with your right foot.

I usually got 25ish mpg when I was driving my 93' auto, but I wasn't trying to get good gas mileage and used my right foot alot...

definitely! you'd get at least 35-45 mpg then, alot of people have got around 50 mpg with a 5 spd festiva.

I used to get 33 religiously in my 93 auto in town or highway AC or not floored for a whole tank or feathered for a tank. Then I ran it hard on the highway and started getting 26. I put in some fuel investor cleaner and will update as soon as that tank is out.

I get 34mpg all the time with my B6 5spd. Hardly ever under 75mph.
