Im really hating australian car sellers at the moment everybody runs them hard and expects to get top dollar, like the other day a fellow was selling 1990 BP 200K no wiring no ecu to intake tubing not maf no tps $650. Do people not under stand?!?!?

Well, I buy and sell cars often, and I never (ever) make any kind of deal with anyone until they are there with cash. I get calls everyday of someone saying "I will have the cash in three days" and I always respond with "Sounds good, give me a call in three days and if I still have it we'll deal." I hate when people do what that guy did to you, offer a deal and then sell it out from under you. But thats how some people are. I always try to at least be honest with someone and not tell them I'll sell it to them at a future date (been there a couple times and turned down other buyers, then the original guy didn't come through). So I can't really blame the guy for selling it to the first person with cash, but I can blame him for basically telling you he'd hold it and then not. Don't worry, you'll find something else though
There is nothing that says you can't ask what you want for something, since you aren't forcing anyone to buy it. I run into people all the time who want waaay more than I would pay for something. I just walk away. One of three things will happen: 1. They won't be able to sell it at all; 2. They will drop the price; 3. Someone to whom it is worth that much will cough up the cash. In a free market economy thats just how it works. Maybe someone else will come along that is willing to pay $650 for it. Maybe someone would have paid $1300 for it if that was the price. As long as the seller isn't trying to deceive the buyer about the condition of the item, they can ask as much as they want. Now if he was lying and trying to say the mileage was 20K instead of 200K, then I would see a problem with it.Originally posted by NicholasJackson View PostIm really hating australian car sellers at the moment everybody runs them hard and expects to get top dollar, like the other day a fellow was selling 1990 BP 200K no wiring no ecu to intake tubing not maf no tps $650. Well if you can't find any BP donors, you could always look for a probe GT for a KL swap
they're more fun then a tiny little BP

1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

I had the cash but my dad wasn't free til friday. A guy I spoke to on CL said its happened to him about 20 times. Once he said he made a deal and went to pick it up but got lost and gave the guy a call for directions and the guy tells him he sold it! Ultra piss off!
Maybe when I have the same skill level as you which I doubt I will have for another few yearsOriginally posted by Damkid View PostWell if you can't find any BP donors, you could always look for a probe GT for a KL swap
