  • How about a topic area for junkyard/salvage requests

I was thinking right under the for sale/ wanted area we could have a JUNKYARD/SALVAGE YARD needed area. For all of us that go to salvage yards to look for stuff that others cant find.

Does this sound good? I have been posting my requests as WANTED in forsale area, but they usually just get pushed down for all the regular for sale stuff.

I don't know if im the only one that uses salvage yards first, then parts stores second.

Sounds good. Alot of the other forums I visit has a request area and a for sale area. Could also split it up in US / Canada sections maybe even overseas as well.

I like the idea of junkyard section. That way if people go they can say what they saw and people can put down a request. Some of us even have our own junkyards, but we are rather protective of our stash.

I'd be willing to moderate that too, unless someone has a serious objection, since it is along the same lines but it would be more relaxed, that way people can talk about their junkyard adventures along with the parts they need or find.

        I do that too.

Parts stores don't carry 90% of what I need, and if they do they charge a fortune for it. I only buy things like gaskets and spark plugs there.

I agree it's a great idea. The three junkyards near me have piles of Festivas and Aspires, but they don't allow customers into the yards, and they are EXPENSIVE comparatively. It's nice to have other options, and usually I can get a part pulled by someone at their local u-pull-it and shipped cheaper than I can get it locally, if I can get them to bother even looking.

Why hasn't there been an area created for this. I was going to suggest it but, I used the search function 1st.

It seems to have a positive response. As long as its OK with Dj I think it should be set up.

                              junkyard

No FS/Wanted is more for stuff people already have for sale, or looking for someone that actually has the part.

Junkyard/Salvage was suppose to be where you could list something you where looking for, and if someone was going there anyways possibly pick it up or let us know there is that part at so and so.

For instance I have been looking for the cluster wiring and speedo cable of a miata for along time now, and miami man has been keeping his eyes out, but it would be nice for everyone to keep a look out.
