My son is fixing up a 1989 Chevy S-10. Will be dropping a 350 4 bolt main in it, with a TH-400 tranny. Lots of fab fun!

If i were you i'd stay away from big blocks in a truck...they're already hard enough to make hook no matter what you do with the rear end. They're just too nose heavy, and putting a big block up there exaggerates the problem. I think the small turbo engine idea is very cool. C4s work awesome with turbo engines too.

The duratec has forged pistons available, tuning support at local ford tuners, and comes in a rwd variant, so engine accessories aren't a problem. My concern is the tranny adapter

I like that idea! Then later, you could always add a turbo.

I want it to last longer than a month. Ketchup put a miata tranny in his rwd festy and it blew up quite shortly.

Talked to John @ quadfourrods.com and he makes duratec to t5 bellhousings among others and will make me a custom cast duratec to c4 bell. It is rediculous expensive

Isn't the truck 5-speed suppose to be beefy? Why not just the FE3N? Can't you use a Miata manifold on it and such?

i know the miata guys use the rx7 trans, im not sure how but i guess its stonger, so maybe you can find an adapter plate for an rx7 trans?
