Since alcohol could be made basically anywhere, (i.e, your backyard!) the bankers couldn't make MONEY off of it, but since OIL comes out of the ground, and requires special, expensive equipment, they could control it, and subsequently, charge money for it to run our cars.

Obama is happy with $5 gas, as he said when he was a Presidential candidate in June 2008.

Oil is now up to a 30 month high today. The price at the pump will be going up 5 cents a litre tonight. That is 3.78 litres per U.S. gallon.

Is your gas going up 19 cents a gallon tonight?

Europeans have been paying the equivalent of $6.00 plus a gallon for the last
15 years. My wife's cousin came over from Bergen Norway and was a little confused why someone who's not in the "trades" would drive a 3/4 ton truck to work everyday (or could afford it).
I have no love for Jimmy Carter but he was talking about this in the seventies.
As long as your beholding to someone or something (Saudi Arabia, China, credit cards, whatever) your future isn't your own. Your somebodies "bitch".

Life, sometimes, is brutally about leaverage. And we all sense we know when we have it and when we don't.

‘When I first started driving, who
                      would have thought gas would
someday cost 25 cents a gallon.
Guess we’d be better off leaving
                      the car in the garage.’

Guzzler Taxes will be next. They already do that in some countries. I think it based on the carbon footprint of each vehicle.

Gov tried that in 1978 except they exempted the very vehicles that are effectively the gas guzzlers of today.
