Excellent work, Tulsa!
I hope to do a very rough "practice trailer" out of my '89L back end this summer. The quarters are rusted but it should be worth it to begin exploring the world of Festiva trailering.
Are those Konig wheels? What size are they?

Great update David! those new wheels look great! You need to do a Trucktiva now....

Really nice paint scheme and mad fab skills to boot! Awesomeness!
Just some of my 2 cents, redoing the top in alum. is a better idea for sure,
Will lighten it quite a bit. Also, looking at your hatch shock locations may be the problem with them not being strong enough. They are to close to the hinge side of the top "lid". Imo, this may be causing to much weight to being born by the shocks from that extra length of the top hanging towards the rear. (Sort of like a "lever" action) I think moving the lid top mounting point of those shocks more towards the rear of the lid will work better for you. That should decrease the weight being born by the shocks. The alum. instead of steel will help too.

You'll enjoy building a trailer, especially if you don't plan to go as far as I did. The rough in process was the easiest part.1992 Flamestiva with matching Festrailer

I knew when I built it that the angle of the lifts was extreme but I was hoping that it would continue to work and that it would less intrusive by allowing easier loading from the sides. I do have great clearance but that doesn't mean much if they aren't working. I built it with the travel of the lid in mind. Since the front lip of the lid acts as a rain drip rail it would be damaged if the lid were opened too widely.
