Chevy is coming out with a pretty cool looking car later this year called The Spark. About the size of the new Toyota IQ (Kind of a Smart with a small back seat shoehorned in). 45-55 MPG. All gas. Around $ 10-12K. Until gas is in the European range ($6.00 gal.) for a long period of time, American will never embrace a small car culture. Why don't we at least try to import a few diesel/electrics (Ford of England & Peugeot are a couple). If Americans want luxury and great gas mileage how about the Mercedes A class diesels that have been for sale in Canada for years.

They should reporduce the ford festiva and make a turbo diesel for it. Keep the interior simple as it is now but bring some modern things like cd player and electric windows ect. Add a fiew air bags and call her good! I cannot immagine it being more than 10k to produce. Why make something completley new when u can just build and make an old design better. I wouldint by the new fiesta and that's bc I think its really ugly, a festiva isint verry pretty but it has much better body lines!

Separate lanes (with their own traffic signals) like they have in the Netherlands for bicycles might make this work.

BTW, my understanding is that the rights to the Segway technology was sold some time back to a guy in England, who recently drove off a cliff and died.

Did he drive off the cliff in a Segway?

Yes, he was driving a rugged country model called the "X2 Adventure." Apparently, the pathway surface was uneven and right next to the thirty-foot dropoff.

Jimi Heselden, 62, was found dead in a river after plunging 80 feet over a limestone cliff near his home. He was riding a rugged country version of the two-wheeled Segway when tragedy struck.

So we need a bicycle lane, a lane for these gay city cars, and room for regular cars too.
