Is Maaco really that bad?

Hey rmp - Just got mine back from maaco 2 weeks ago (will get pics up soon).
Went with the $500.00 job. Looks excellent! Mine had the 2 coats plus clearcoat. Same color (1988 red metallic), very little body work, no rust.
Even people in the biz said for the money it's impressive. No orange peel or weirdness. It looks like a factory job. I'm doing the bumper black this weekend, slippin on my new seat covers and I'll be "stylin":p. Seriously - I'm not sure I'd spend the extra $200 bucks. IMO I think you'll be happy with the $500 job. Good to here you like your paint job.I was leaning toward the 500.00 paint job. Don't know how much better the car would look with the full clear coat. I'm guessing it would protect the paint from the sun better and longer. Just not sure how much longer and if its worth the extra 200.00.
