    need to invest in "turbo" sockets, Sears sells them.
    Trees aren't kind to me...

    currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),
    94 Justy 4WD, 87 Fiero GT, plus 2 parts cars. That's my fleet.

      The junkyard said "probably $300" when I asked them a couple of weeks ago.

      I would love to just drop in a new piston/rod. Especially if I don't have to pull the shortblock or drop the crank to do it.
      I'm just not sure if the cylinder wall and crank journal are still good.

        i can garuntee the crank journal will have to be resized and polished and you'll have to run under sized bearings for at least that cyl.

        have you pulled the other 3 cyl to inspect the condition of the bearings and rods?

          The cylinder wall is damaged. It has gouges in it towards the bottom.
          I'm just going to get a new engine.

                And it is now running perfect!
                Smooth idle, no smoke, lots of power.
                I think everything in the engine bay is good.

                I want to thank everyone here for your help and input and for putting up with me when I get frustrated at this little Asian car.
                I will try to come to Festiva Madness (that's the one in October in N.C., right?)
                And I'd be up for a mini-meet in the DFW area if anyone around here is interested.
