I would say that figuring out why it failed so catastrophically is more important than replacing it.
But I'd do both. I don't like having half my exhaust hanging off the manifold.

Haha it's just the DP at the moment, the exhaust rusted apart just before the cat. converter.

Yes, definitely the down-pipe bracket.

Check the front of your engine from below, this part should be behind the down-pipe and bolt to the block.

I leave them off on our paper route cars, never had any issues leaving them off. but I also pull the motors out about 3x a year for other types of repair. (clutch's, front mains, timing belts.)

I use mine for a paper route car as well!!!

I'll just leave it off. More weight reduction. :p

Bolts to the block...exhaust pipe clamps to the lil forked part. What the f bomb did you do???

LOL! I had just seafoamed it, I think some of it combusted(backfired) in the downpipe.
