Haynes is fine for the '88, and the '89 carb. Just the '89 Auto is a completely oddball EFI system that doesn't really match anything else. So just to clarify, this IS an '89 EFI auto and not an '88 carbie auto? I'd hate to have my reputation as the owner of the one and only '88 carb/auto tarnished :lol:No festiva for me ATM...

Nothing at all wrong with the 89 auto. I have one and it was just fine (before it met the deer). For an auto it is the faster of them...with vacuum disty and stuff....makes it run a little better. I have a 92 auto with air right now that I think is pretty darn peppy and I am pulling 34 mpg with major lifter problems. I would not be afraid to by a Festy auto or manual for $500.00 if it is running right."FLTG4LIFE" @FINALLEVEL , "PBH"

If the interior was complete and the body near flawless I'd buy an 1989 atx for $500. You can always tell her about how hard 1989 are to work on and white lie that even the axles are harder to locate. Pop on $350?1993 GL 5 speed

1989 with a rebuilt engine needing an axle I'd still buy as well. It's just a large deterrent for hotrodding, and even eco-driving. This is from a buying things twice point of view when you should hold out for the manual. The ecu/harness is secondary to the trans.
I want to do a b6/auto/turbo, a 1989 would fit the bill nicely.1993 GL 5 speed
