  • NO drain plug...

On the 97 2 door aspire gas tank. .... lame.
They took a perfect car - festiva - and messed up a ton of things. They only got the brakes right. Lame.

You could always make one? A lot of effort, worth it in the long run.

I just drained nearly 5 gals of old gas out of a festiva yesterday. I was wonderng then if there were many other cars with a gas tank drain plug. I would like to thank the people who designed festivas for including it !!

Yet another way the festiva is the best car ever.

I keep telling my friends that, and at this point, they are either really agreeing with me, or are just sick of me saying it.

The bad news is that this nice gas tank out of the aspire is not so nice. I don't need a gas tank at the moment. I just thought I had a good spare from this aspire I just parted out.

I told my friend that I was going to have to drain the 3 year old gas in my '88 Montero and he couldn't believe me that the gas tank has a drain plug. Every car should have one!

Most cars nowadays don't have a drain plug on tank because with gas being high, it would be too easy for someone to steal your gas. You can't even put a siphon hose down one nowadays to remove the gas. Blame it on oil companies.

Is that a guess or a fact?

the fact that newer cars dont have a drain plug is true, but the reason isn't theft, it's emissions/leaks (mainly leaks).

Drill a hole, weld a nut over the hole, thread in a bolt, cover it in some bed liner stuff. Voila. Still irritated that they messed up the perfection that is festiva.

Recommend you drain the gas before welding....
