          It depends on what type of welding you want to learn. stick, tig, mig? Mig is probably the least expensive to self teach and learn on your own at home. There are some really good books I can suggest if you decide to try it on your own. The only downfall is you will have to purchase a small mig welder and the supplies and safety equipment. Stick is not real hard either but it requires a 220 outlet and it's good to have someone experienced to look at your puddles and give you pointers on width and heat settings and rod selection.

              I partnered up with a buddy and we opened an independent repair shop, we do mostly general repair and partial to full restorations as well.

                    I run a service truck for a large chain of tire shops. My main customers are the local Coke bottling plant and a trucking outfit that hauls Ammonium Nitrate up to the mines in BC to make ANFO for blowing stuff up (and other dangerous goods to various places).
                    It's kinda fun to think about it; every can/bottle of coke. sprite, etc. in Calgary got to where it is on my tires.
