The O2 sensor isn't in yet.
Today I got an inspection. Passed Texas emissions. I was afraid my cat might be damaged from all the burned oil going through it.
Here are the inspection results if any of you exhaust knowledgeable people are interested:
High Speed (25MPH) (1963RPM)
----
Item / Standard / Reading
HC (PPM) / 184 / 165
CO (%) / 1.04 / 0.26
CO2 (%) / - / 14.4
O2 (%) / - / .2
NOx(ppm) / 1380 / 1063
Dilution (%) / >6 / 14.7
Low Speed (15MPH) (1755RPM)
---------
Item / Standard / Current
HC (PPM) / 191 / 174
CO (%) / 1.07 / .26
CO2 (%) / - / 14.4
O2 (%) / - / .1
NOx (PPM) / 1527 / 1301
Dilution (%) / >6 / 14.7
Everything passed.
If those number have an effect on gas mileage, maybe someone can make sense of them. Just thought I'd share. If it's too much, sorry, I'm excited because my car is fully legal now.~Austin

36.0MPG last night.
I drove 55MPH for the first quarter of highway. 60-65MPH for at least 200 miles on that tank. Denso O2 sensor is installed.
I attached a picture of my gauges. Is my temperature a bit cold?
The ambient temp was in the 60's last night.
The engine was only barely getting over the cold line before, so I put in a thermostat from an old engine that had a small valve as well as the big valve (assuming its the proper original design). Fan switch has been replaced and the fan will turn on and off if the car idles for a few minutes.
Is the gauge inaccurate (~190* in the middle?), the engine running cold, or is this the normal operating temperature. My engine is completely stock.
Does ignition timing have an effect on any of this?
I'm sorry if I'm being annoying or if I've threadjacked. I'm just trying to figure out why my car is sticking to 35MPG. My old Festiva was NEVER less than 37MPG and averaged 40.~Austin
