Non-perishables are fine. They hand water/gloves out here in Joplin, from local charity drives. They have the town on "lock-down" at night for ludding purposes, no lights needed.

      Addy below.

"Also Tuesday, the National Weather Service announced that the twister that crippled Joplin was an EF-5, the strongest rating assigned to tornadoes, with winds of more than 200 mph. Scientists said it appeared to be a rare "multivortex" tornado, with two or more small and intense centers of rotation orbiting the larger funnel.
It was the deadliest single twister since the weather service began keeping official records in 1950 and the eighth-deadliest in U.S. history."

OK, just got off the phone with Wes.

He much appreciates those who have sent paypal.

I asked what would be more useful paypal or clothing he said probably 50/50 at this point as his youngest daugther lost nearly all her clothing.
But, that as things get cleaned up more there will be need of some basics; detergent, bleach, soap, shampoo, etc.
Use your imagination as to what you might need if your house was destoyed.
I'm sure anything we can get to them will be one less thing they have to worry about.
I'm headed to Wal-mart now to pick up some kids clothes in the appropriate sizes.
He said clothes don't have to be new, anything in good shape and the correct size would be useful. So if you know anyone with small children that can spare a few outfits and want to help a family in Joplin, MO let them know about Wes and his family. Maybe you can put a package together to keep the postage to a minimum.
Wes said the Post office in Joplin is gone, so definitely we have to send everything to his address. Joplin itself is blockaded, I suppose to keep looting down.

In any case do what you can, remember it could have been you, or your family, or someone you know.

                            Don't mention it!
If we hadn't met out in that Cali JY, I might have sat on my posterior and done nothing! But, having spent time with you I know your a decent guy, so I had no choice to do what I could.
You got my number, use it!
There are more people helping I only got the ball rolling.
Should be more stuff and paypals headed your way.
All I ask is that you let use know you got the stuff we sent and give us a chance to do what little we can from here.
You have the hard part, we just want to give you some resources and tools to get things put back together!

Not going to hurt to have a few spares!
Appreciate you jumping in on this Scott!

And that goes for the rest of you who are sending things and paypaling!
It didn't exactly go as I had envisioned, but I did say it would evolve!

I checked at work to see if they'd match me for this, but sadly they seem to only do that for local/WV disasters. But they said I could put up a box for donations which I might do next week when I get back.

I want to request what the children in the house sizes and/or are too. I know they do not need anything as their's were spared but I am certain they would like to see a little something show up for them too.
