They pretty much build the snot out of it to get that much. That motor was the "small block Chevy" of auto racing in Europe in the '60s & '70s. There are tons of performance parts available. Ford even offered a factory DOHC Lotus version of the Cortina back in the 60's. I have a ton of old "Classic Ford- Pushrod Power" magazines from England, maybe I can scan some pages and post them as a pdf. My old '79 Fiesta was rated at 84hp (IIRC) and weighed 1920Lbs. I added a Pacesetter header, richened up the carb secondary by using the primary metering rod from a spare carb and added a Supertrapp muffler. It was a blast to drive and surprised many people. My guess is it was comparable to a good running B6 swapped Festy. I think the final gearing was around 4.10:1.........with 12" wheels, it could really have used a 5th gear!Brian

Back when I was doing research on porting an polishing I ran across an old book written by one of the headwork Gods David Vizard from back in the day. The whole book pretty much covered 2.3's and 1.6's and had a whole section on just head modifications. One of the quotes I remember from chapter one is "220hp is considered the norm"
I think I still have a PDF of the book somewhere if anyone is interested

I'd like to see it as well, Zanzer. In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:
There's a fine line between breathtaking ingenuity and "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen!"
