ignition switch help.

So I'm getting the festy going again . Its been sitting for 2years. Ive got the tranny out fixing it. But I for the life of me can't find the key! Can someong fill me in on the process of switching the switch out? I've got the new one already.

The wires unplug from the back, and there's a few screws above it holding it on the steering column. That's all I remember...

STOP what you're doing and pull the passenger side door lock, then take it to a locksmith and they'll make you a new key. no muss, no fuss.

BTW, a quick search would have answered your question...

no bolts...they are a flat screw that you have to put a slot in and then you can use a screw driver to remove....then use bolts to put it back in.

But it would be much easier to do what Festyboy said.

^^ Or you can use a hammer and chisel to turn them out. I've done a couple like that and it works pretty well. After they break loose you can turn them with your fingers most of the time.

But for my car I just pulled the lock number and got a locksmith to cut me 2 new ones from the code. Only cost 20 bucks

provided that the ignition switch and door locks match up. hopefully your the original owner and know they have never been swapped out.

you would know right away if the switch has been changed and you would probably know if the door had been changed too. If you had to use a different key...door jamb different color then outside color. Door color is slightly off from the rest of the car....ect...

all my colors match but my key wont unlock passenger side door >.< lol. festyboy and i just had a conversation about mismatched locks and keys

There's a tiny roll pin you can take out. ( the roll pin point downward when it's installed in a car ) It's a pain to get out, it's very small. Once you get it out the whole tumbler assembly just slides out. If you dont have another key and no way to get one, dont have donor lock. Then this is also how you access the little brass tumblers, they slide out. Once you slide them out, leave them out and reassemble. Then any key will work. Or anything else you can fit in there to turn it would work also.
