the final gear on the E series is already VARY low at .69 with a 3.77 final drive. you'd need a much larger engine to make good use of anything lower without lugging the engine.

My '92L with stock, weak 1.3 had trouble getting up hills in 5th gear, but my nice and perky B6 in Aqua can accelerate just fine in 5th gear, even up hills. A slightly taller 5th gear would be nice, and even nicer for those with stock MTX and B8s or BPs. Why not save some gas while at speeds over 55?

I think a 5th gear that would drop engine speed around one or two hundred rpms at 65 would be great! I doubt there is an easy fix, though. Probably have to be machined or adapted from something else.

I'd like a much taller 5th gear in a g25. Use 1-4 for playing and 5th for sipping! :thumbright:

you need a 626 5th gear paul, they can still be had new at the dealer and IRC the protege/capri forums.
