Why can't more cars look like this?

Well they offered the E34 in a touring body and the early E23's and E28's had a touring body but there was no market in the US at the time. The E34's did OK and it seems the 525 was the most popular although there are some sweet 540 tourings available if you wait them out.91 Festiva GL "Scrat"

One thing that stood out to me when I moved here, even your latest model ford focuses look the same as the Australian / European models..
The newer (a few years old now) look like this

We can all be glad that Ford stood up to the beurocracy and said they are a family run business and no one's going to tell them what cars to build. I think they've done very well for themselves the last couple years.
On another note, my boss has a Pontiac G8 GT (Holden import w/361hp LS). I've rode in it for several thousand miles on business trips and must say...it is a NICE car. Solid built, comfortable, excellent handling & braking, 26 mpg and can run mid-13's....all in a roomy RWD 4-door sedan. I wish Ford would import some of the Aussie V8 sedans.Brian
93L - 5SP, FMS springs, 323 alloys, 1st gen B6, ported head & intake, FMS cam, ported exhaust manifold w/2-1/4" head pipe.
04 Mustang GT, 5SP, CAI, TFS plenum, 70mm TB, catted X, Pypes 304SS cat-back, Hurst Billet+ shifter, SCT/Bama tuned....4.10's & cams coming soon
62 Galaxie 2D sedan project- 428, 3x2V, 4SP, 3.89TLOC
1 wife, 2 kids, 9 dogs, 4 cats......
Not enough time or money for any of them

On topic, if all cars looked like that, well, ALL CARS WOULD LOOK LIKE THAT! I don't know about you, but I wouldn't like that. Just sayin'.
I see that you said "more"instead of "all"... Moving on.

I dunno ''bout yall, but if I had an LS2 powered commodore in that greenish color I wouldn't be putting sacks of quickcrete and a step ladder in the back, I'd probs be out drifting like a beast.Owner of:

I'd love to see some of Ford's European lineup hit the US soil. If we're all as fat as they say we are, wouldn't it be a better solution to stop building huge cars with bucket seats that mimic the shape and size of super-capacity washer drums and start lessening the options for people who just have to have that last turkey before bedtime? Take the Miata for example. Those cars are huge now, and nobody can tell me it's because of all the extra safety equipment, because I know better. Even BMW has already changed their 1 series design to allow for more interior space and better seating capacity. LEAVE THE SMALL CARS ALONE! Yes, if you made them bigger, you could accommodate more of the American public, but then you end up with a Camaro the size of a 90's model Chevy 1500, with a starting price of $23,000. Why do we beg for more small cars and then complain when they're not huge SUV's?
Rant is done.In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:
There's a fine line between breathtaking ingenuity and "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen!"

Checker Marathon wagon! In baby blue!!
Just downsize it a bit, to the size of a Focus wagon and give it an Ecoboost 6 cylinder.
I'm attaching a blacked out grille version.

PS: Checkers were the opposite of the "update every year or two average cars." They were seldom updated on the outside. Built for function, not fashion!Last edited by Safety Guy; 07-13-2011, 05:27 PM.'93GL "Prettystiva" ticking B3 and 5 speed, backup DD; full swaps in spring!

i much prefer the Holden VZ-VY SS Thunder Utes compared to the Maloo Utes. The Maloo just took the body kit way to far and was the only major difference apart from the price.
Ford BA XR6 Turbo Utes look better imo. My auntie owns a BA GT in full Black and the BF GT in full black. The New BF GT has a 355 V8 and its supercharged.
The VE Ute above runs a 6L GEN 4 V8 (LS3) the Blue VZ a 6L LS2. We owned a Vy SS With a Stock Ls1 , had DiFillipo Exhaust and we could hear it about a km away screaming up the road.Last edited by Brayy; 07-13-2011, 06:07 PM.
