Ford had published a TSB about this in '89. The center link was actually a 30A, Ford changed the rating to 35A, due to premature, unwarrented failures. I run a 40A cartridge in all of mine. I did some current flow calculations on the main harness wire gage, and it can safely handle the 40A cart.

Been running 40A (green) in mine for 10+ yrs in two cars currently on the road.

Only time I had an issue was when I left the lights on and the battery was calling for all the current it could get, 40+ amps, and it failed, as it should.

I also have a 40A cartridge fuse in my festiva, no issues at all

Only time I ever blew the fuse was when my alternator was over charging
