What year? Reason I ask is because of the crank snout size.

Good news is that if it was an SNC and they didn't remove the crank bolt when they did the TB (you don't have to on an SNC), you shouldn't have and trouble (most likely). However, if they did remove it, or if its a BNC (requires you to remove the bolt) then I might be a little wary of it. Still, great cars!

Only two opinions so far, but they seem to be in agreement with one another. Only thing I would seriously recommend is going ahead and ordering and installing a new crank bolt and key just in case someone botched the torquing of the bolt or fitment of the key during the timing job. If you put it in then at least you know if it was done right or not.

May I ask about the crank bolt? What usually happens? What do people do to screw it up?

Just because its a '92 doesn't mean its not the SNC, in fact I believe that I read somewhere the EGTs had SNC through '93. But that is neither here nor there. Bottom line is if you have any reason to believe that the timing belt job could have been sketchy, I wouldn't take any chances. My '92 Miata (late '92, BNC) apparently had a shattered crank key at some point, and the last shop to mess with it had cut a bigger channel on the timing cog and welded half the old key to half of a newer bigger key. Needless to say that didn't work. I replaced it with a used timing cog (un-molested) and with a new key and crank bolt it seems to be holding up ok.
