If the electronic controlled G series auto showed up on my door step with the TCU and harness, I'd try to figure it out.

I was looking up the axles; there's a supplier in Florida that can build any CV axle needed although there's probably a stock application that would work with the inner and outer spline count/length like those from the 89 323. They used analog-governed G series autos and same-as-Festiva outer spline count if memory serves. Probably doesn't though, I've been typing out farts all night...

They're not that difficult to wire or install. They're just HEAVY!!! probably twice the weight of the F3A, maybe a bit more.

nope, was an optional trans in '88 and '89, according to my Mazda contacts.

Get the tallest tire/wheel that will fit without rubbing. A stock tire has a 69 inch circumference. The difference in final ratio between an automatic and a 5-speed is 4:5. A tire that measures 86 (!) inches around would make it feel the same as a 5-speed. Might have to roll the fenders with those.

I'd be interested in seeing the milage of an auto festy with overdrive.

I don't know the numbers but I thought the 3rd gear in the F3A actually IS an overdrive gear but the torque converter isn't a direct drive and doesn't allow overdrive. With the lockup converter from an Aspire, they gained a bit better MPGs to make it a true overdrive.

Edit - Third gear is 1.000 so a direct drive WITH lock up converter.

I know how to drive a stick. My cts-v is a stick, along w/ every other car i've ever owned. I passed on a few nice Festiva's because they didn't have an automatic.

Looks like there's no simple swap for this. That sucks. I'm already running 175/70/13's, so getting a taller tire has already been done. It definatley helps, but over-drive would still be a blessing (as would another 30-40 HP ).

Drove the Festiva up to Baltimore yesterday for the Sox-O's game where the speed limit is mostly 65 & 70. 3500 rpm is right around 68 mph. If I remember correctly, 75 mph is 4000 rpm. What mph are you 5-speed guys running at 3500?

3000 rpm is 74 mph for me. so to answer your question: 3500 = hefty fines.

would love to have the 90-93 323 auto trans with lock up in a b6t festiva. I have the trans here with 60K miles on it and the B6t here too. Don't have the mechanical skills to pull it off though. Apparently that trans won't fit though.

I need that trans! My girlfriend's 323 trans bit the dust, it was on it's last legs but... I can't find one anywhere around here.

Thats most likely an F3A. Every one I've found so far, even if it was listed as a 4 speed, has been a 3 speed.
