  • Hello from Seattle

Hello everyone, i'm new the festiva community... new to owning a ford at that. Picked up a 92 festiva off of craigslist as a commuter about a month ago and i've been loving it so far. Although it hasn't been without some complications. The rear brake cylinder leaked and burned off all the grease in my wheel bearings and welded the spindle nut to the spindle so when i went to replace it, i stripped the spindle Anyways member sc72 really came through and got me spindle, thanks again to him.

Next, the tires were shot and locally, i couldn't find any 12" tires so I ended up buying a set of 14" Enkei 92 mesh wheels from craigslist and threw them on with some brand new tires. This in turn meant i had to pull and roll the fenders to get everything to fit without rubbing.

    Here's how I got her.

Here's with the new wheels: 14x6 +33 offset with 175/65/14 tires.

And here's today after a slow day at work I decided to cut the fenders so they're actually round.

Tomorrow I will be flaring them so i can fit a set of even wider 14" wheels with a lower offset. I'll be posting more pics and updating as I get everything thrown on. Oh and the car is lowered on a set of KYB gr2 shocks with cheap ebay coilovers. In the picture with the green wheels she was still on the cut stock springs and factory struts from the original owner.

    Cheers!

Welcome to the forum. Great car so far... nice to have another member in the Pacific Northwest! You'll find a half-dozen or so active members from the Greater Vancouver Area along with 3-4 from Vancouver Island! Some down in Washington, Oregon, and California as well. You're among friends here, that's for sure.

The mirrors are actually cheap Autozone mirrors! $9.99 per side. They're flimsy plastic and only allowed me to see an area of about a square foot behind the car, so i ended up sticking convex mirrors over the top of them. No more blindspots! Although it makes every thing look real tiny, I have to be careful about not cutting people too close.

My commute is roughly 90% freeway so far i've been averaging 35mpg with the new wheel setup. I definitely lost a few mpg's with the added rotating mass.

And yes, ejp2fast It rubbed like mad which is why i pulled all the fender liners and cut the wheels arches. I plan on running the car just a little lower once i get the new wheels on the the fenders flared out a little more.

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I'll keep on updating as I go along with this little project.
