Before the head gasket replacement I was using the cheapest oil I could find because it was burning out nearly as fast as I could pour it in.
So with the head gasket blown, it can cause the engine to "burn" oil?
I know this are dumb questions. I'm just trying to learn.

Found a gallon of Rotella pure synthetic at the Megalomart for about $20 or $21, and its also SN rated by API, can't beat that with a stick. If its not in stock, the Supertech full synthetic is slightly cheaper too, the blue bottle at Walmart.

Yeah I've been using Supertech from Walmart, but last night I seen the Valvoline Nextgen and saw a $3 coupon. So I made it the same price as supertech

It can. If the gasket is blown near an oil passage. I also had bad valve seals.

Walmart had the mobile one for 426.99 for the 5 qt jug. It was as low as $21.50 in the spring.

I did discover my car did not appreciate Castrol 0W30 synthetic when temperatures exceeded 32 F. Started and ran just great at -20 and lower though. The mild clattering and knocking when outside temperatures went up around freezing convinced me to stick with higher viscosity oils. 5-W-30 is recommended for Festys up here but last winter I ran 5W20 synthetic without any problems, and am still using it, even during the summer months. Mileage seems to have improved a tiny little bit.

I'm not doubting your experiences Bert, but that is very strange. 0W-30 should not be any thinner than even 10W-30 at engine operating temp, regardless of the outside air temp. In fact, it should be "thicker" than 5W-20.
