  • Just my luck...

So there I was all excited about picking up a donor for my Bp swap. Previous owners only words were "it won't start." so I pick it up and drag it home and start digging in. First thing was the battery was in backwards. Fixed that and starter just clicks. So I'm thinking bad battery. Swapped it with a known good one and it cranks but won't start.
So I pull a plug and wire and we gots no sparks. Traced it back to the coil, so I picked up a new one ( spendy!) still nothin. Now I'm lost thinking ignition switch or ecu or some bad wiring somewhere.
After several hours with an volt meter I decide to pull the cap and see what's going on in there. Seemed ok so with that off I crank over the engine and the rotor doesn't budge, awesome! Looked down the oil fill cap while cranking and cam isn't turning, even better! Yep timing belt broken. And I thought this was gonna be a weekend job...

Pull the BP and put on a new belt while the motors out, make it easy on yourself lol

1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)

If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

That's what i was thinking but I really wanted to make sure it runs and drives before I put it in the festiva So I'm not chasing gremlins all over the place. I hope that's the only thing wrong with it.
      Always somthin'

When I did my BP swap, all I had was the bare engine and an ECU, I used the festiva harness/coil and she fired up first try

So I bet with a new belt, you'll be good to go
