  • bp is on the road and inspected !!!!!!!!!!!

finally done and inspected... except for a few lingering details: temp gauge swap, 02 sensor swap, rev lights?? (idk), speedo, clutch still needs adjusted more (way to hard and low), anyway its street legal

    ...there is a but

but it doesnt seem as fast as i thought my friend and i did a 3rd gear roll on 83 and i was pulling him but not as much as both of us thought i should have. we expected him to be humiliated.

he has a 1.8t audi a4 thats awd and bone stock. we both thought that the a4 is slower than a wrx. so i need to go over it and see whats up. i do have a feeling that my vics isnt hooked up rite for one thing. i guess i need to get together with someone else who has a bp swap and let them drive it. my check engine light would come on when warmed up untill i tied open the the vics and now it doesnt come on anymore. i really want to race our friend with a slightly modded wrx but i want the bp to be preforming rite. any thoughts

i think ill also have to visit bret the ghost and see if he has any suggestions. anyone else in the area with a bp/g series?
none the less i am super excited about this car and ill post pics soon

Cool, glad to hear. Now you can bring it down to NCstiva then to Ohiostiva!

You know, to test it all out on a trip.

The BP we put in the 93 with an F trans goes up to 85 MPH like it's being shot off the deck of an aircraft carrier with the use of the catapult!
I haven't measured it against either of my nissans (a 1st gen SE-R and a 6th gen SPEC-V) yet, but it feels almost as quick as them and brother they're quick.

Do you have the VICS connected up and working correctly, because that has a pretty big influence on torque?

We did make a small adjustment to the intake though, that may have made a bit of a difference:

X2 I've never seen your car PICTARS or it didn't happen!

Have you heard about the cut intake mod? I was looking at the thread over on cp.com and they claim its a 5 HP increase. I don't know if its been dyno tested tho. I guess there's a huge velocity drop that needs cut back and smoothed over?

I'm thinking about trying it since I've got 2 vics/BP intake manifolds laying around.

dang it! so that means there has to be something up or the g series trans is geared crappy. dont get me wrong its fast but im let down as of now. the vics may be an issue and the o2 (it helps map the fuel???)

without the vics tied open it felt great off the line and in lower rpms but felt flat in higher rpms. with it tied open it was flat in low rpms but felt like it took a deep breath up high. i did the 3rd gear roll with the vics not tied open and we were on the highway so we were i was in the top end most of the time.

my friend has a se-r so i do know how it feels and its not quite there yet

I remember when i first got my old BP festiva going, i was really impressed with the power....... then i got my red festiva with the B6T, the BP seemed pretty slow after that........ then i upgraded to the KL, the overall power is slightly better then a stock B6T, but the N/A power is just awesome, well for now at least lol

Congrats on getting your festiva going Bobby :thumbright:

I've got spare wire ends that plug into the ecu plug if that's what's keeping you from letting the computer make the decisions!? Don't tell me you didn't hook the distributor wire up as either? Heck you may not even be hitting closed loop yet!

I'm thinking with the way we've got our intake setup, we've got to be making at least 130 hp,
So if you figure that combined with a 1,800 lb car, and you've got something that can accurately be described using a shocker hand jesture!

matt (resuwrected) helped me wire it up and he has done a few bp's so i know that we hooked up the wires but maybe they arent making good contact in the ecu or something
