got up early to start on the 89 cleanup and about 4 hours later I had the interior done. came out nice except for the 4 burn holes in various places and the scuffing on the plastic panels. the headliner, door panels, dash, and carpet were 99% perfect -no tears or cracks. the weatherstripping is 99%. and no rust anywhere, even around the hatch drain holes or under doors or rockers.

now the bad - heater control won't go from cool to hot even though the cable is doing its thing under the dash. I don't need to worry about that till november thankfully.

I think I found most of the pulling left problem. 3 of the tires are 155's and one on the LR is a 145. I have a 155 to put on it. I'll do that tomorrow and see what happens.

everything under the hood looks good, sounds good but I found rusty water in the rad. I'll flush that and put antifreeze in it, change the oil/filter and plugs as well. I will put some of those gold plugs from NAPA. those should help in the mileage dept. replace the mas. cly. and run a couple cans of carb cleaner through the gas and I should be done and it should be running (and stopping) great.

since I'm putting 2 new kumho's on the front I'll probably get the front end aligned.
hopefully $200 will do it for me and I'll be good to go if the front end guy doesn't find any surprizes under there.

      Good score!

There's something about a nice plain white Festiva, even if it's a carbed 4 speed!

In addition to a wash and wax, get some "Restore Black" or other rubber trim blackener and make those bumpers and mouldings D-A-R-K. That'll really make the white POP!

You may also do a WTB for nicer seat covers or see what the guys in the Philippines have for sale in that area. Don't settle for cig burns! :p

Oh, and CHECK THOSE BALL JOINTS!

well , changed oil and flushed rar. it must have been clogged up at the h core because halfway through the heat started working fine. so much rusty water came out it looked like brown gravy. so I figure I'll take it in to the shop and have them do a T-belt and while there put in a new water pump along with a new t-stat and sending unit. I'm also going to put in the larger aspire radiator from 1 of the parts cars.

I also changed the tires around and took the 2 good ones to the tire man and got them speed balanced - put them on the front and put a 155 on the back where the 145 size tire was and that took care of all the pulling to the left and 95% of the shimy. whats there now is very minor.

got the rest of the stripe glue residue off it but man was that a b. think I'll wait till I get it back from the shop to compound and wax it.

now to make a rear panel and I plan to make a console for it as well.

One step above an L in trim. It was blacked out around the windows, came with the hockey stripes you just finished cleaning the glue off from and that's about it. They were just a cool little option for a Festiva.

                thanks,

guess I lucked up then, got 2 of them - the parts car I paid 6 bills for last month is the same car. it needs a motor, transmission, and rotors. it has a straight rust free body and a very good interior. I'm going to soup it up.
