+1 on the Saturns , the Ion has the ecotech 2.2 , not the best MPG out there but its really reliable.

They are underestimated.

I used to work at a Saturn dealer , I left when they came out. But the 2.2 ecotech was already in the L series since 2000 (as a test bed since they wanted that motor in their cavalier and other econoboxes) , It was so successful GM slammed it in everything in 2004.

^ What he said. I too used to work for Saturn back when the ION came out, and over the years they've proven to be reliable cars. The platform is much better than the old S-Series cars. Drive it sanely and you'll get good mpg's. Also, with a Saturn, you don't have to worry about the body rusting!
