and yep, thats a pink and lime green int. had a blue poncho for a back seat cover, bed liner on the door and plastic trim panels, 2" long crooked shift rod, etc. oh, and green astro turf on the floor.
I did enjoy puttin it together - wish I'd have tooks pics along the process.
car was sound mechanically and I took in from stock to this myself. interior was actually done in lime green duct tape. I alcoholed the surface (and myself, lol) before appling. somebody asked me what if it came off later and I said buy another roll and spend 20 minutes of you time having fun.

My Festiva, at just under 100,000 miles, had since new, getting great mpg, running exceptional. But I got to drive a 5 speed tranny & now want to put one in my Festiva. I better stay with my faithful 4sp. If I put a 5speed in, it'll probably give problems for the rest of its life.

The stupidest thing I could've done to my Festiva would probably be taking an '88 LX and turning it into a B6T/G25MR sports car. However, I'm still doing it. :evil4:In love with a MadScientist!:thumbright:
There's a fine line between breathtaking ingenuity and "That's the stupidest thing I've ever seen!"

Stupidest thing u ever did to ur car
I pulled a forklift out from being stuck with my old STOCK aspire.... I also towed a 323 GTX 12 hours with that aspire
1988 323 Station Wagon - KLG4 swapped
1988 323 GT - B6T Powered
2008 Ford Escape - Rollover Survivor
1990 Festiva - First Ever Completed KLZE swap (SOLD)
If no one from the future stops you from doing it, how bad of a decision can it really be?

This thing.
It was a great idea. Then winter came. My hand has literally been stuck to it a few times.
(heh heh. Couldn't get my hand off my knob)

In my first Festiva, a 88L, I installed red leds in all the vents, a grant steering wheel and monster tach with all the wires ran over the dash in red convoluted tubing. The description does not do it justice. It was so rice it smelled like soy sauce.Going old school...

Butt, auntie; thus my butt is born!

I had a '73 Harley-Davidson "Sprint" working as an elementary public school custodian in Ojai, CA with biker-band bass guitarist Curtis Lowe during '81 & '82, one of the 350cc Aermacchi single-cylinder four-cycle motorbikes Harley imported from Italy to put their name on the rear of the vinyl seat covers; and during a visit to see those relatives while I had the bike then, my aunt took a roll of grey duct tape to the seat cover.
Wow, that was cruel. Whenever the sun shone, the glue on the duct tape got hot and sticky; adhering to anything applying pressure against the stuff, my butt for instance: While any attempt to remove the stuff would've resulted in a gross sticky mess, impossible to clean up with any solvent I had experience of at the time.
The dumbest thing I've ever done with the Festy, is powershifting; or trying to actually, from second to third. This ruined the synchromesh in second; when I was getting near terminally annoyed by an abusive surrogate girlfriend named Sky who always regarded the car as her own while I was the associated chauffeur she'd managed to hustle into her various exploits and adventures, using drugs and alcohol conning me into these almost always spending far more than she hanging out while traveling together: With as company, her son Blue from the age of four months to nearly five years, then both occasionally afterwards; as well as her derelict musician boyfriend Roger most of those times too. Former "deadhead" followers of The Grateful Dead, etc.
One day only a block or so from my apartment, she had me so pissed off I mashed down the accelerator to the floor until the motor was screaming in second, then shoved as hard as I could towards third, missing the shift entirely with a disheartening grind. This, despite the damages to the car and my psyche; did have one of the desired effects, of shutting her up effectively. Not the easiest thing to mange; while I still feel irked that the Festiva won't powershift well.Last edited by bobstad; 12-17-2012, 09:45 PM.'91 Festiva L/'73 Windsor Carrera Sport custom

Stupidest thing I've ever done to/with my Festiva?
Almost killed myself in it one night back in 1994 driving from Tucson, AZ to Albuquerque, NM. It was late, probably almost midnight. Long drive to get to Albuquerque trying to get hired by an F-16 Air National Guard unit that was meeting for their drill weekend the next day. Driving in mountains I'd never been before, screaming through the night, way too fast when I had a feeling I'd better slow down and so I did. Barely got slowed down when I found myself in the middle of a left hairpin turn. No way I would have stayed on the road and I seem to remember seeing a whole lot of empty space/nothing out there in the shine of my headlights as I slowly made that hairpin turn.
That would not have been cool.
Other than that, I smacked into a curb somewhere around 3-5 MPH after hitting some ice in Boise, Idaho. I say "ice" but the real culprit was me rushing trying to get somewhere on time. Bent the frame; driver's side door made a horrendous, gasping squeak every time I opened it for the next 11 years or so. Just barely straightened the frame last week...
Drive safe, amigos! :cry_smile:Last edited by Twistiva; 12-17-2012, 11:42 PM.88L - 'Twistiva' - 'The Fusion of Man and Machine'
