So I was on a long motorcycle trip this weekend, some of it with a group, all of it with my wife on pillion. We were riding through Virginia, North Carolina, and East Tennessee.
I've made it a habit now, that anytime I see a Festiva on the road or in a yard or peeping out of an old barn, I stand up on the pegs, point to it, and shout "Fes TEEEE vaaaaaaaaaa!" If there's anyone around, I'm sure they wonder what I'm doing, but it's fun and Fay enjoys it.
I did it about 6 times in 20 miles in Tennessee. There sure are a lot of derelict Festivas down there, complete ones obviously not on the road but sitting around in people's yards looking fairly complete.
My own little Festiva is running well, always starts, always idles, always gets good gas mileage, asks for little in return. I've just this week put 50,000 miles on it total since I bought it in late 2008, and it's been a good 'un.
I'm still sort of looking for a nice one, or one that can be turned nice very easily. My one has no rust on it and runs good, but it would take quite a bit to put it back to "stock restored", and in my opinion it needs to either:
1) Be driven and enjoyed like it is
2) Bought by someone who would upgrade it to what they want and drive it.
If anyone has, or knows of, a close-to-stock, non-rusty, nice condition Festiva with a 5-speed and AC, let me know. If a trade was involved, I'd be generous ....
