Well I fianlly took the plunge. My son is the real Festy Fanatic and has done much work on his and his girl friends "Little Car" as my girl friend calls them. So he told me about a guy who was looking for a 4x4 in trade for his 93 Festiva, I had a 1990 4runner that I acquired at auction 3 years ago and had thought of doing an engine swap in it but it was going to be way too expensive to do and since gas has gotten back to almost $4/gallon, well you can see where this is going.

After exchanging photos, information we decided on a meet and I was pretty impressed with the 1993. It had no back seat but I had one my son had left over from another interior swap. The driver's is gonna need replacing as will the passenger, both are pretty well worn and the drivers side wont stay completely locked on one rail. After exchanging titles and paperwork, we headed home. It ran extremely well and did the speedlimit with no issues, no shake, shimmy or rumbles. The body is great shape with a few minor bumps and dings, surprizingly clean and the paint is very shiny. 147,000 on the speedo, 5 speed L model. No stock radio antenna but they had installed a shorty on the passsenger front fender. No A/C, after market radio. Stock black 12" wheels. He probably made out over all on the deal but in the long term I think I got the better end of the deal.

Ok so being new to the forum, I wanted to get some input on the best upgrades/swaps (besides engine) along with interior upgrades to perform, in other words, quick inexpensive to start and then work my way up to more involved "fun" improvements. This will be the "project" car for my son and myself. He is already getting jealous of the new acquistion. So please help me to make this a sweet little car. It is not going to be a daily driver but in its previous life it was. I will start posting some pics to this thread as it progresses. And THANKS!

      First things first:

Check/replace your bearings, brakes, lower control arms. (I thought my festy was good to go, until the ball joint jumped, and the wheel shot sideways)

Other than that, a fresh set of plugs/wires, air filter, run a can of Seafoam through it, and it'll do WONDERS!

There are a ton of easy modifactions with these cars. Just do some searching and you will discover all the things you can do!
For the seats I believe you can fit the Aspire seats pretty easily? If not direct swap. They are more comfy and easy to find in good condition. I have prelude seats which I love but involve welding to work.

Here is a thread to get you started.

If you lift out the rear ashtray, a beverage fits in there.

The dome lights from Escorts, with the map lights, those are a cool upgrade. Nice write up on it here somewhere. I think some of the 323's have the same light.
