Exhaust pipe size

My int. Pipe broke hoping to just clamp with straifht pipe can sone tell me stock diameter?

First make sure you have the original or exact replacement pipe size. At this point, twenty-so years after our cars were built, many of them have had their original systems replaced with different size pipes.

As for original size, sorry I don't know that off hand. One thing you might do is find a spot where there is no shield around the exhaust pipe and use a crescent wrench to get the outside diameter. Then just use that wrench to check the new pipe size.

Buy a set of calipers...the measuring kind, not the brake kind. You can get cheap plastic ones for under $10 or good digital ones for around $20. They will come in handy for future use. IIRC, I believe the factory pipe is 1-7/8" OD.

Yep, I found the exhaust on mine was replaced with a 2 inch exhaust sometime in it's life, and even that was falling off the car when I got it.

If I had to guess at the original pipe size, I'd say 1.5" or 1 and 5/8.

I've gone to 2" pipe on all my projects so far, but when I do a B3 MPG build (w/Aspire roller rocker head) I'm thinking of going smaller. Maybe 1.75". That will allow more freeflow than stock while being cheaper and weighing less than my usual 2" pipe.
