Festiva vs. Aspire transmission

So the festy 4 speed and aspire five speed ( that I said above ) don't have the same final drive . I clearly said festy five speed was different ?

Wasn't this for a Manuel transmission ?

festy 4spd and 5spd are the SAME save for the extra gear. aspire 5spd changes the final but NOT any of the selected gears.

It looks like the lock up converter is no longer being offered ?

Arty; no, the 4spd has a slightly higher final drive than the 5spd, according to my literature. But that may only hold true for the early cars.

Brad; I'd trust the lockup up to about 200hp. Otherwise, use a Festy converter.

Okay !! I was thinking the four speed festy and the aspire were the same ratio . But anyway you can tell the difference between the ratio of a four speed festy versus the five speed festy trans . We built the b6d car with a four speed and after a year we lost forth gear , so we replaced with a five speed and it killed the car on a hill !!!! Now were back to the four speed racecar !!

yeah Jim i've seen both numbers and from what i have in the 89 FSM, they are the same final drive. i don't have the '88 FSM but i do have the trans supliment and it also reads with the '89 FSM as well... i wonder how many early 4 spds were actually put on the road (VIN spread)?
