    I agree!!
I never took it as whining. I took it as useful info on buying parts from overseas.
Packing is everyting. Even the best made parts can be damaged if not packaged correctly.
I also noticed the Ernst has not responded in the least. Now that I look, This thread started today
not yesterday as I originally thought.

          Jake-
As a business owner (Roo-Sport.com) I have to agree with you that this is poor customer service.
We send a lot of our Capri parts to Australia, Thailand, Norway, France, Germany - all over the world..If a customer tells me that the part arrived broken and emails me a picture, we IMMEDIATELY send out a replacement, no questions asked, and at no extra cost to the customer. It is ridiculous to believe that in this day and age, the consumer needs to be responsible for damage incurred during shipping. If insurance is not available, or offered, it is the business's responsibility to cover any claims - end of story. It's a cost of doing business.
As a bonus, the positive PR he could have received by offering to replace the item would have been priceless!! I'm sure that if he would have replaced the part, or offered a refund, you would have had nothing but praise for him and his business practices, correct? It works both ways.....treat the customer like crap, expect bad PR that could affect your business. Treat your customer well, and let your customers do all your advertising for you!!

          Good luck resolving this.

Charlie1717, i think you have said it best, now that we know this chin piece is quite thin, future buyers will know to ask for better packaging. Good luck Jake.

Although I completely agree that customer service should be one of a businesses top priorities. However (and Ernst may correct me) but Ernst seems to be doing this more for the love of Festivas and to help out the community than to make money. I believe his margin of profit is very low and almost not worth the hassle, but I may be wrong. If this is the case then let us be careful not to burn one of our very few bridges abroad, rather we should now recognize the possible risk of purchasing abroad. He may just say forget it and not ship stuff over here.

I'm sure Ernst would love to raise his prices- however I think he is trying to keep prices at rock bottom and packaging will reflect so.

So now everyone knows! You take a risk and that is that. I'd be willing to bet Ernst would take more money to pack better.

Sorry for your luck! Thanks for letting everyone know.

Thanks to all those who still trusted me. I just saw this thread. I'm selling quality fiber made and quality form made stuffs. I sell them here to share what I have here. I don't want to sell damaged items as this will not be good on my name. This is not a business actually but just my passion to our ride. I'm not thinking if my stuffs would click before even when i'm not still here at FF.com. Packing that way is almost not on my price. I just made it to ship to you there. For Jake, it's the best packaging I have so far for a chin. I made it myself that I used a T-square, measuring tape, pens just to do it good. Its ok if you don't apppreciate it but if you would notice before my packing, you'll see the differences. The packaging concerns alarmed me when one of my US clients got a damaged bumper, its cracked. But he understands and just a piece of cake to fix it. What matters is how good is the form to have it in their Festiva. Its a cross finger now if fiber stuffs will get damaged or not. It does not matter if I have it in bubble wrap or not. If the handler stacked it w/ heavy stuffs or on the plane there's a sudden accident that it got stacked by a heavier object, its not my fault. Do you think Jake, will you buy my chin if I sell it to you times 3 of the price just to have that insurance you're looking for? if that's $150, will you get it for a $480 just for a chin?

with the pictures you have posted, looks like a clean damages. what's my purpose on selling item like that?

i don't want to raise prices so it still could be affordable. those are the best prices i had. i'm selling to stuffs here what you see on my ride. i don't sell what its not visible. when i sell, i change something i want to sell to have it an as example to you. i'm not a feeler guy or something. i know really what i'm selling. and you should know first what you are selling. if you want carbon,i'll give you real carbon, not just a sticker. i know what it feels like to have a sticker hood, thumbs down for me. i had it before but its like trying hard. i sell the best stuffs possible. i don't sell things if it would be a hassle to me or complicated especially when shipping. if i made something,it should pass on my standard first. i'm first hand when making new stuffs. i'm involved in the making, i design and i fabricate.

i'm sorry if to others if it was shipped not good but I think its just 3 of them that got this miserable problem but one only reacted not good. those two got me thumbs up eventhough like that. its just timing(bad timing). it's inevitable.

Listen man by all means I'll still support you, all i'm asking for is some sort of warning that if and when this happens, you will do NOTHING to fix the problem. I understand what you're doing for all of us and i really appreciate it as well as everyone else. I'm not saying your a bad guy, or your products are bad, i just wanted at least something other than basically "Sorry about your luck". That's all man.

first and foremost the buyer should know it if buying fiberglass copies. its not a plastic, its not that flexible as a plastic. if a plastic is damaged and cutted, its more serious than a fiberglass. fiberglass is easily repaired, you can even do it on your own. you told me its $100 to fix that? i don't think so. not all my shipping are delivered damaged. i even shipped to taiwan, same item you have and it landed very good and in perfect shape. it's ok if you don't support me. what's about this thread anyway? a long, long thread. but thanks to all those who understood and still trusted me.

Okay well then why don't you just go ahead and send me the resin and all that rest of the stuff to fix it? Then we'll call it fair. And i didn't say the people should know it's thin fiberglass, but when they receive it damaged you will NOT fix the problem or even relatively try to make it right! That's all.

i'm selling quality lightweight fiber glass not full puttied heavyweight fiberglass. if its that heavy, price would be higher too. selling liquid items too is complicated. not accepted on shipping.

when you have fiberglass,it should be lightweight. you put more weight in your car,not good. in racing, that's why there's carbon fiber or fiberglass coz they don't want the heavy metal. they lighten.

What Jake was trying to get it with his resin comment is the fact that because it arrived broken he has to do one of two things. Pay someone for their time to repair it. Or purchase the necessary items to do the repairs himself. This is more time and money he wasn't planning on having to cough up and was hoping you could compensate buy giving some sort of a refund or at least throw a few bucks his way to purchase the necessary items to make the repairs.
