Why then is Lucas Electrics un-affectionately referred to as "Prince of Darkness" by the die-hards that have tried to operate a British car from the 50s-60s year round. They were positive ground (the reverse of any other manufacturer) and had ground wires attached to every fixture on those cars. Within a couple of years all you were doing on a routine basis was looking for new places to attach grounds because the originals had corroded the body metal at point of contact. It was pretty rare to have a full complement of lights, turn signals and electrical appliances on a 3+ year old British car at any one time.
