I believe inspections for registering vehicles over there are very strict and rigid. Rust is a problem because they salt the roads, but more than that its not holes but merely surface rust that will stop you.

When you see a car in the states with twice the miles listed as the one below, it makes getting a pride over here seem almost feasible.

Tom, I wonder what it would cost to put the car in a container and put it on a boat bound for port in US? I could sell two $1500 Festivas to buy yours. I think it would be worth it. I'm betting it would be closer to 5k.

^^^About your link, David.. that guy doesn't have much imagination, does he? "Car looks like stone, renamed car 'STONE'".

But back on topic.. I wish you would import it.. it would get others on the bandwagon, and sooner or later there'd be 100s of 4-doors here, in immaculate Australian-driven shape.

Plus.. put an American tag on it and they'd never know.. dashes aren't too awful to replace! ...nor are pop rivets.

The front sidelights are white not coloured. The indicators (in the bumper) were orange, but have faded almost completely clear.
They don't stay in breakers yards for long, the scrap value of metal's too high.
I've the original handbook. I've got all the original documentation in the (plastic, Kia badged) driver's pack.
          The mirrors aren't powered!

I'm surprised no-one's mentioned the little spats behind each wheel, I don't recall seeing them on any of your Fords.
Good morning Tom, the spats you refer to did come as an option for our cars, other members and myself have them on our cars. Good luck with your sale.

tom, i'd like the dash bin also but i don't want to be a Wanker and jump safety guy. how do we resolve? sealed PM'd bids? there is a good bit of work involved getting that rascal out. first, remove dash. etc. etc. as you can see, there is a huge bracket on the underside holding that in the dash. the last guy that sent me a bin just took a screwdriver and broke it out. an alternative, if you're scapping the car, would be to cut into the dashtop with a saber saw or sawzall type of tool. make sure the car battery is disconnected and cut all around the bin allowing enough room to not cut into the bracket. hopefully it will all come out in one undamaged peice.
regarding the mirrors, they have small levers inside the car for adjusting manually? less cheezy than the accordian boot set up over here but i guess objects in mirror are closer than they appear" is on the left hand mirror.

There's more to it than changing out the dash when converting to left side driver.

Sorry to everyone hoping for parts, I sold it.

I've half-a-dozen 13" Suzuki wheels all fitted with tyres. What chance of getting rid of them. '90s Suzukis are few and far between!

You should have entered it in the Festiva/Pride/121 of the Month contest first and then sold it.

FB, in post #21 you show a wire coming out of the Mazda cable choke pull. Would you happen to know where it goes? Did it go to a switch light or to a pictograph in the instrument cluster? I would like to replace my RX-7 security light that I am currently using as a choke light.

I phoned Mazda parts just now and told them I needed a 55-720 clock bezel for a 1988 Mazda 323 with a black interior (the other interior color choices were (blue and beige). The bezel price is $12. I am going to prepay and see if I am able to get a gray one. Twist, do you have a brown clock bezel? If not, Let me know and order one for a beige interior and see what I get. Everything apparently works on VINs which I don't have. While I'm there, I might as well try to order OEM black door pulls too for a 1985 323 or 626.

the wiring schematic shows it to be between the PTC (positive temperature coefficient) relay and the PTC heater under the carb. i'm no electrical wiz but it looks like it might regulate the PTC heater. i'll post the diagram later but it will be in french or german.

Yes, that makes sense. No need to post the picture. Power through relay until choke is pushed all the way in. Heat under carb until engine is warmed up and choke wide open. I don't believe that was an option for my little carbies. Thanks a lot.

                            Brave -

No, I don't have a brown clock bezel. I'd like some upgrades to my basic 88L but a clock bezel isn't one of them. I guess I never thought the hassle of installing a new dash for the cutout would be worth it.
