  • Question about A/C

I read the thread discussing getting more cold out of the a/c. Reference was made to factory a/c and dealer installed a/c. How do I tell which I have? Thanks.

Main difference: Factory used Nippondenso compressors and dealers used Sanden compressors.

My dealer installed A/C has a sticker on the Radiator suppoet that states it is dealer installed.
If it don't fit, use a bigger hammer!

Do you have the sticker that states the R-12 capacity?

IIRC the book says 1 lb 9oz or 25oz. I have been told that if you change to 134a you only need 80% of 134a to fill the system. good luck.

I would say easiest way to tell was where the relays were.

25 oz .7 kg , 1.56 lbs and a bit less for freeze12 or other hybrids. 134 is the least efficient.
The hybrids got better fuel economy because of better efficiency than R 12. So our govment chose 134 because it was the worst they could find for efficiency- fuel economy!! Because of this a conversion works better slightly under charged with 134..some bubbles in a sight glass.

The best systems are original 134 systems with their bigger condensers and slightly different other components converted to hybrid!!
