  • Oh local law enforcement...

So... I got pulled over the other day in my festiva. I was driving on a 30 MPH road, and saw a cop car with his lights on pulled off in my lane. I figured there was someone in front of him he pulled over, for the second he came into visibility he had his lights on allready. Plus he was in my outskirts of my lane facing my direction at a stop. I passed him very slowly and carefully, and was surprised when he started to follow me with his lights on. My festiva looks a little like this:

Taking precaution that everything on the festy was indeed streetlegal beforehand, and happening to be driving rather safe that day, I knew he had nothing on me and was curious to see his excuse for pulling me over. I pulled over, and he stepped up to the window. After about 30 seconds of dazing at such custom items like my emergency killswitch, rollcage, custom switches on the rather vacant dashboard, my large tach, and my 5 point harness, he told me that the reason he had to interrupt my busy schedule that day was because my stereo was 'too loud'.

The funny thing is, I don't have a stereo in my car!

I don't have speakers nor do I have anywhere to mount them (interior gutted) I don't have a headunit, in fact I don't have the part of the dashboard where the headunit mounts either (it was cut off by previous owner for racing purposes).

I am SICK of cops profiling against kids like me.

Yeah i've been pulled over 9 times in my short 2 year driving career. All local ordinances, too. I have never been pulled over by a state or sheriff, just rich cities. Really annoying.

He then complained about the crack in my windshield, and how that should be fixed. Then he made me go through every switch I installed, explaining what they do. Finally, after he realized it wasn't my radio, he lectured me on having the bad driving record I have and to 'be careful'. He then followed me out, pulling his SUV up to blind me from oncoming traffic.... intentionally, if you ask me. It seemed like he was creating a situation for me to really gun it.

Then, 20 seconds later, my intense flashing of my high beams were not enough for the brand new speeding charger coming towards me. The cop threw on his lights and pulled the poor guy over. This all happened in literally 20 seconds!

You mean cops have "quota's". Around her they always say "we don't have a quota so we only write legitimate tickets".

yeah that why I got pulled over 2 parkingspots from my house one night, and issued a citation for the bulb for the plate being 'out' (read covered in dirt from the road that leads to my neighborhood). Dumbass cop was fishing, and fishing in a private residential.

kabbage, you are driving around a billboard for speed. Of course he pulled you over. I'm not saying its right, but I used to have really long hair and got treated like I was a drug dealer or something until they got to know me.
But when you drive something that really gets peoples attention you have to really watch yourself, because the police sure will. When I drive my modified Mustang I have to drive much more cautious than when I drive my Festiva.

Here in BC, us young drivers have to have green magnets identifying us as novices on the back of our cars that look like this:

Unfortunately, a lot of "Novice" drivers get pulled over by the cops just because they are indeed young. I have friends who just skip the magnets altogether, and most of them don't get pulled over. I can't complain though, I haven't been pulled over yet in my year of driving. Which is amazing, cause I deserve it!
