    Sorry but you're wrong too, my 323 cluster is completely un-modified and it fits fine

    And the digital clusters speedo still runs on a cable

      Completely unmodified? Something had to be modified to fit it in there. I've done one from stock to installed. The ears are too wide to fit in the stock hole. Either your dash was modded, or the cluster was trimmed.

          Well as I said, I didn't do the install so maybe the dash got modified and I haven't realized it, either way the cluster itself is un-modified for sure
