change spline count on stock hubs?

There's enough options out there for the stock splines that changing the spline count would most likely only be a disadvantageLast edited by Damkid; 11-06-2013, 10:52 PM.

basicaly you need to determine if you can get bearings to accept the new hub or have the new hub machined to match a combo that fits inside the knuckle and has a bigger ID than stock (SKF has a catalogue on PDF for download). BR11 is the factory bearing if you need to get raw dimentions.
the big question here is which trans are you trying to install? if it's the GLH, we've discussed this and you know it's not easily feasible given it's size, mounting and linkage.Trees aren't kind to me...
currently: 2 88Ls (Scrappy and Jersey), 88LX, 90L(Pepe), 91L, 91GL (Skippy) 93 GL Sport (the Mighty Favakk), 94 (Bruce) & 95 Aspire SEs, 97 Aspire (The Joker),

Not really easy, even if there's enough meat to do it. Broaching would be one way to do it, but broaches are $$$
You could ask around a few machine shops if they'll cut internal splines, but it's still gonna be costly. I've thought about this, could you make a hybrid axle? Use the outer joint of the Festiva/Aspire/Rio and the inner joint of ?/?/? and have the shaft between made the correct length with the correct splines on each end. I'd think a shop that cuts and resplines axles could do this.1963 Fairlane - future NSS drag car
