3/4" is great 1" was to much for me. I noticed a loss in leverage that I didnt like with 1" so I went back to 3/4". I think I did the math before and 3/4" = @ 20% change.

A guy does Neon STSs that way as a side job. You'll lose length in the top, though, which you might not like. I have the Civic piece, and would like to have the stock length top part of the rod back, personally. Ended up just using the included oblong shift knob barely threaded on to add length(as well as heating the rod and bending it back some) as a work around, but eventually I want to do the cut and welded stocker method to permanently fix it.
Any difference that makes no difference is no difference.

Cut mine down almost 2" on the top and added 3/4" or so to the bottom, love it just wish the hole wasn't ovaled at the bottom.

I tried that and destroyed it in the process. It was not going to move and that was final.

Nice work. I had been considering the same thing. Don't really care for the shorter shifter arm of the Honda shifter. Seems like in an earlier thread, I had read that if you lengthened it too much, it would hit the exhaust pipe, maybe. Think I will try the 3/4" version when I get my car going.

                        Thanks,
