No need to if you use a quality clutch, do it right, and don't beat on it too much. Plenty of folks use the stock transaxle with the B6 with no issues. My guess is the stock trans and clutch will be fine up to around 90 hp, and more if you are careful. I have about three years now on my stock clutch (A-Zone brand) and stock B6 (rated at 82hp).
