The Festiva and Aspire have a B3 engine. The B6 is from a number of different cars and is a common engine swap to upgrade the power.

I personaly believe that nobody should waste their dime rebuilding a B3.
There are a lot of B6 engines available for rebuild and you will definitely have a smile on your face. I got mine from a Mazda 323.

and so you know, the B6 is a bored out B3, same block, bigger displacement, and a little more power, also is a DIRECT swap since it is the same block!

                I wouldn't build a B3 unless it's for a gas mileage motor project which I am doing.

Here we go again with the "do not build a b3" stuff again. The original question was what is b3 and b6?

Yes it will bolt to a stock transmission. Use the clutch, flywheel and starter for the stock transmission with the B6.

the B designates the "family" of the engine. that is to say that the basic architecture/layout of the block is very similar within that family. all Bs are inline 4cyl. mazda has other families of engines such as G, MZR, K, etc. the number after the B is a ballpark value for the displacement in cc. there are B1, B3, B5, B6, B8, BP, BPD, BPT displacements and configurations in this B family.

Waste of dime$$$$$$. Money. Lettuce. Penionzie. Hroshi.
B6 is exactly the same size externally and the rebuild kits are more readily available.

tried to edit my post but the time limit was up. should read - B is a ballpark value for the displacement in THOUSANDS OF cc. but sometimes when you're going up a steep hill it does feel like 3cc.
