Lesson learned from a fender-bender I was in while driving my Festiva: ALWAYS get a police report. I was driving down a street past a line of cars parked on the right side of the road (a line of parents waiting to pick up their kids at a school on the right-hand side of the road) when a guy got impatient with a car ahead of him and he pulled out into me (his front left corner hit my right rear quarter panel above the tire). I was driving along in a straight line of direction and he tagged me. I immediately pulled over and he parked behind me. He said something about the driver ahead of him going too slow and him trying to move around her and then he clammed up. We exchanged insurance info but without a police report (I trusted he would tell the truth), his insurance company claimed I hit him. When I pointed out that where the damage was on both our cars (my right side above the rear tire) and his front left corner, that I would have had to plow into him and then yank the steering wheel to the left to avoid also hitting the car(s) ahead of him. They said that without a police report, based on what the other drive claimed in his testimony to his insurance company that my information was "inconclusive".
What a croc.
The guy in the other car that hit me was an ordained minister.
Nice....
