      Wow.

That Festiva died to protect you.

Remember, Festivas are not like those rolling hunks of American made metal on the road - you are riding in a pop can.

Be careful! I'm glad you are Ok.

        Glad you're okay, Aaron!

Take a break from cars and decide what to get later on.

It's been a hard couple of days, what with my SORE body and my new lack of car. Yesterday, after paying $200 to retrieve my battered Festy out of the tow truck compound, I hauled the poor girl over to a local auto wrecker and sold her for the lowly, undeserved sum of $80. A huge loss, but I needed closure, and I didn't want the car hanging around my grandparent's property, as I have been living in Prince George for only a few months and I may be getting an apartment soon, especially now that I have no car and must rely on the bus.

I've decided I need a break. I'm not going to buy another car till around Christmas time, enough time for me to regroup and get some direction back.

I still plan on going back to the wreckers and taking pics of the car. It's amazing, simply amazing how well the car did. The front is slammed in so much that the tires are stuck far back in the wheel wells. The back is also slammed out and the rear quarter of the roof is bent to the right. Picture a shorter, taller Festiva! It looks as though I took her in a demolition derby!

I loved my Festy. She went above and beyond anything I could have expected.

Thanks for the comments. I'm truly happy to be alive, I can't stress it enough. I experienced a miracle, there is no other way to describe it. I'm not taking any more chances. After I take this break from driving, there will be a new attitude from behind the wheel. Sure I won the lottery this time, but heck, I'm not playing with my chances.
          A Festiva saved my life.

            Festivas and crashes

Be careful in all that you drive.
My first Festiva and I were involved in an accident. (thats how I lost her) Was hit broadside on drivers side by a Taurus going approx 20-25 mph and spun the Festy 360 degrees where it stopped on the shoulder going the same way, right next to a 12 ft. drop. The side of the car that was hit collapsed like a cardboard box. Cut and big bump on my head from top of door. I now own another festy and I do keep that in mind. Open and look at the door thickness. Pretty thin.
Maybe if that is kept in mind, one may drive more carefully.

Aug 2006 being his last post, I guess he moved on...personally I consider Festys to be safer than motorcycles, but that's about it. It's up to the driver; situational awareness and making the car safe--or safer, with Aspire brake upgrades and better tires.
