Changed my bros CV axels last month, 5 speed I found 1.5 quarts to be the refill after drainind is this correct and how much does my four speed hold

Never did a 4 speed but the 5 speeds are 2.5 qt.

Do you know how to check the fluid level?
Its a PITA to see the marks on the Speedo gear assembly with fresh fluid.
Because I beleive Nitrofarm is correct it is closer to 2.5 Qts, for a refill.

I had to fill it from the cable how but I didn't notice any level marks. Advance told me 3 pints

Loosen the barrel nut, remove the cable from the speedo gear housing.Then pull the housing out and clean it with some paint thinner.I paint ONE white paint stripe along side & over, the two "HASH" marks or "De-tents" that are cast into that little housing. Once the paint is dry it will stay on there for some time for future level checking.I tried sharpie but the fluid washed it off right away.Those two marks represent LOW/HIGH fluid level in the case.Here is what I would do,drain the fluid through the plug.Pour 80 fluid oz or 2.5 qts into the case.Let it sit a minute and then push the housing in all the way and pull it back out.You should be spot on.

Cool. Its plastic I think can't I scratch it on it.
And im sure I only put 1.5 in my bros a month ago I'ma have to fix that.
IMA do a drain and fill on my four speed. Think in about using Lucas or somn thick.

Its aluminum,the reason for the white paint is a contrast to the red fluid. A scratch might not really help you see the fluid (its almost invisible when clean)

There is a pic some where on this site showing the mark on the speedo gear assembly, and of course in the manual.
I'll see if I can find it.

Man you guys are awesome, and Im lovin this car.
I never really cared to much about my vehicles but their is somn bout this lil car.
I could go on but I'm sure you all know.

Just a FYI.... I changed one of my axles last week and upon adding the second quart ,some of it ended up on the ground. I ended up having to drain some out of the trans to get to the right level..... 92 five speed......

Which axle?
Did you drain the oil from the drain plug or just let it drain when you pulled the axle?

Passenger side axle and I just let it drain from the axle hole.....so there could have still been some fluid in the trans... I just thought more should have drained out since the only thing lower than the axle hole is the drain plug :/

My thoughts exactly.
will also depend on how high you jacked the passenger side, more fluid could have pooled on the drivers side depending on the angle.
